Tag Election

The community decides which tags exist and what they are called. Propose tags, suggest changes, vote – approved tags become available to all creators.

Why

Tags power the filters, the search and the recommendations. Instead of a fixed list maintained by us, members propose and vote – so new niches get their tag quickly and bad tags disappear.

How it works

  1. Propose a tag on /tagelection: a title, keywords (words the search should match) and a short description. New tags start as proposed.
  2. Discuss and vote on the tag's page: upvote or downvote, comment, and see which videos and images already carry the tag.
  3. Change requests: for existing tags you can propose a new title, new keywords or a different description. Changes are voted on the same way.
  4. Decision: tag validators – experienced members appointed by the team – approve or reject proposals based on the votes. Approved tags become selectable for every creator; rejected or retired tags are removed from the pickers but old links keep working.

Everyone who commented or voted on a tag gets a notification when it is decided.

Small rules

  • Tags are lowercase and short; keywords help the search, the title is what people see.
  • Vote once per proposal; you can change your vote.
  • The teaser tag is special: it marks previews of paid content.
